digital dream, we're all cyborgs here
For those of you who care, I am safe in Massachusetts (there's SNOW here!) with [info]stephjo having some wonderful conversations (well, I'm mostly doing the talking, but she says she likes it that way) about topics like Haraway, academia in general, what statistics really is and why people shouldn't be scared of it, and the difference between the way a mathematician thinks about math and anyone else thinks about math. My paper went well at Arisia (I got much better feedback than I did at the academic conferences) and I got to meet the lovely [info]phoenix1701, [info]fibro_witch, [info]tikva, and [info]passionandsoul, and reunite with Elaine.

PSA: if you are friending me because of Arisia, keep in mind that I have over a hundred non-mutual friends. If I tried to read you all, as [info]passionandsoul put it, my head would explode. A comment about where I know you from may distinguish you from the pack of names and get you a friending.

My Tiny Life (and if you can guess why the link, you get a cookie!): I am not ready to touch my friendslist and probably won't be for some time, though. Email or use my userinfo page to send a text if it's important.

In other news, I got I1 privileges in styles over at spr0t!

Yay for snow! I was able to enjoy some when I was up in CT, so I'm hoping the stuff in Massachusetts is enjoyable as well! :)

oh lord - you cited my essentially defunct livejournal, instead of my active weblog, reflexivity. I know, I know - can't I do both?

Glad to hear your safe
You forgot the _ again. My user name is fibro_witch, from back when you COULD put spaces in user names.

Have fun in Western MA, spend some time in Northhampton, MA and Brattleboro, VT if you can.

Re: Glad to hear you're safe
Well I use to wander the local book stores, and pagan stores in the area. Also I love to eat the food at Chi chi chi. The mexican food, while not being 'truly mexican' is wonderful.

If you head down the hill they have a great used book store, I think it's called Raven, I really don't remember. I think Lupus took away those brain cells.

Faces is the funniest store around. They were the only place I could find a 'trailer trash' fashion doll, and the first place to have refrigerator magnet peotry. They have lots of great funny stuff for very low prices.

Sorry about the spelling, my brain has drained out my ears

The light dusting of snow we got right in and around Boston has melted away in the sun (unlike last year's Arisia snow, cough cough).

I enjoyed your panel and also enjoyed meeting you (and putting a person to the userpic) at the LJ meetup, crowded though it was.

To echo [info]forexample, I hope your knee is feeling better.

I'm sure you are hooked up with all that is cool in Northampton, but if you want instant advice for Best Vegetarian Food, Funnest Coffeeshop, Best Muffins, Grooviest $8 Sunglasses, Where the Queers Hang Out (besides "everywhere"), etc., let me know via TM. I'm glad you're well. :)

Huh, how long are you up in this part of the country for? 'twould be lovely to hang out with you.

Tried to text you to invite you to join me and friends for dinner on Sunday, not sure if it worked? Our dinner plans were vague anyway.

BTW, [info]coffeekitty wandered into the Con Suite during the LJ social just a few minutes after you left. How... something! heh.

i am regretful that i did not get to meet you at arisia. cos tried to grab me when you were around, but to no avail, partially because halfway through saturday afternoon i degenerated into an impressive (for me) nervous breakdown over the presentation i was writing and the realisation that i have lost my ability to communicate with all other conscious entities.
